Thread Lifts 101
Need a pick me up? The Thread Lift may be for you! While some clients love the results of injectable treatments or feel comfortable with the idea of undergoing cosmetic surgery, we know these options may not be suited for everyone. Luckily, there is no need to compromise on comfortability or results with the facial rejuvenation treatment known as the Thread Lift (The best of both worlds).
So what exactly is a Thread Lift? A Thread Lift is a non-surgical, minimally invasive treatment designed to redefine facial contours without adding volume. Thread Lifts target the cheeks, nasolabial folds (smile lines), and jowls by emphasizing your natural facial contours and shape. Thread Lifts deliver a rejuvenated, refreshed, more lifted appearance!
Here is everything you want to know about this restoring facial procedure. You’ll be happy to know that the Thread Lift process is fairly straightforward. The first step to any cosmetic procedure and/or treatment is always engaging in a consultation. During your consultation, you will have an opportunity to address any questions or concerns you may have and go over what you can expect during your treatment! After your consultation, you can move forward with the main event! Here’s how it goes down (or should we say up?); A fine and resorbable suspension suture will be used to gently reposition fat and tissue through the use of fine threads within the skin's natural fat layer. The suture is a fine and durable medical cosmetic junction that creates and holds the desired lifting effect. Thread Lifts work to redefine the beautiful natural contours of the face which can lose elasticity. It’s important to note that since Thread Lifts are a medical cosmetic procedure that it will be administered by an extremely experienced cosmetic injector plus our very own, Dr. James Bastian. So, rest assured that you will be in good and steady hands if choosing to pursue this treatment!
And what is the difference between a Facelift and a Thread Lift? Well, a Facelift is a common cosmetic surgery whereas a Thread Lift is a common cosmetic procedure. Thread Lifts are much less intrusive and intensive compared to full Facelift surgeries. Facelifts can come with a longer downtime period. Because we know recovery time is usually a main concern for most of our clients, we’re excited to report that because Thread Lifts are less intensive than Facelifts and full cosmetic surgeries, their recovery time and healing process are very smooth and low maintenance in comparison! Of course with any procedure, there will be some precautions to watch over and will be detailed to you during first your consultation as well as before and after your treatment, we’ve got you covered!
The moment you’ve all been waiting for and the most frequently asked question - how long do results last? The results of your Thread Lift procedure can last up to 2 years with immediate results following the procedure and full results after only 6 months. This procedure offers both immediate and long-term results. The lifting effect is immediate and discreet. It is the result of compressing and elevating tissue as soon as the suture is applied. After inserting the suture, Dr. James Bastian will apply slight pressure on the treated area. This reshapes the surface of the skin and makes it visibly tighter and smoother. Thread Lifts also offer long-term regenerative results. The regenerative effect is gradual and natural. Polylactic acid (PLA), the principal component of Thread used to Lift is a polymer that has been used in the medical field for many years. Once the suture is applied, the polylactic acid acts on the deeper layers of the skin and helps increase the volume of saggy areas, restoring shapeliness to the face gradually and perfectly naturally (We call this a win-win)!
Now that we know what a Thread Lift is, what the procedure entails, and all the benefits we can expect, let’s talk about candidacy. Thread Lifts are truly designed and best suited for clients experiencing mild to moderate signs of fine lines and a decrease in the skin's elasticity. We typically recommend this procedure to any client who wants a lift but not a surgical procedure! However, treatment candidacy is best determined through a thorough consultation with one of our Nu Image cosmetic surgeons, Dr. James Bastian, to give his own personal expertise on what is best for you!
