Laser hair removal is a convenient, non-invasive method for permanently reducing unwanted facial or body hair. It leaves the skin looking smoother and silkier than waxing, electrolysis or razors. Lasers can treat larger areas effectively with minimal discomfort and no downtime.

A word from Medical Esthetician Allyssa Finnik | @skinbyallyssa

“Hello smooth underarms! 🙌🏻

IPL (Intense Pulse Light) lasers are used to treat a variety of concerns, including unwanted hair. 🪒

Laser hair removal works by emitting broad-spectrum light wavelengths and heat energy to the hair follicle bulb (root) where the melanin in the follicle is the most concentrated. This heat and light energy creates trauma to the hair growth cycle and stunts the growth of future hair cycles, meaning that hair comes back less frequently and in smaller quantities. 🤩

Since we are able to target the root of the hair follicle from returning as frequently and as often, this process can help to prevent ingrown hairs from forming, and reduce the frequency of razor burn, rashes, or irritation due to the lack of hair growth and maintenance needed for the treated area. 🙅🏼‍♀️

Treatments are recommended as often as 4-6 weeks apart, to ensure that each cycle has been targeted consistently and correctly to achieve the desired results. Multiple sessions may be required depending on the colour of the hair, frequency of growth, texture of hair targeted, treatment area, hormonal factors, etc.”

  • The laser targets the pigment (melanin) in the hair follicle. It heats the selected area, instantly and permanently disabling the active growth per hair follicle. Due to this, successful hair reduction treatments depend on a patient’s skin and hair type. Typically a lighter skin type with darker hair is the best candidate, however we can treat all skin tones safety and effectively. Most patients can expect a significant reduction in unwanted hair, future hair growth will usually be thinner and lighter.

  • Multiple treatment sessions are required for optimal results. Depending on the size of the treatment area, typically between six to eight sessions may be required, however this can vary from person to person. Treatments six to eight weeks apart will lead to a significant aesthetic result.

    • You have unwanted facial or body hair that makes you feel self-conscious or limits your ability to wear certain clothing.

    • You have dark hair and light skin.

    • You are looking for an alternative to waxing, electrolysis, shaving and bleaching.
